Whitehall Lane Winery is looking for a permanent, full-time cellar worker to join our cellar team. Whitehall Lane Winery is a family-owned and operated winery situated in the Rutherford AVA, with a number of ultra-premium estate vineyards in the Napa Valley. The role is comprised of a variety of cellar tasks in a medium-sized winery. This is a full-time, hourly paid position.

Duties:

•  Assist the cellar team with daily/weekly production goals.
•  Follow written and verbal standard operating procedures (SOPs).
•  Assist in receiving and processing fruit, sorting, pressing, etc. during harvest.
•  Perform punch-downs & pump-overs during harvest.
•  Assist bottling line operation when required.
•  Cleaning and sanitation of winery & equipment.
•  Make additions to juice, must, & wine.
•  Juice racking, and wine movements from tank to tank, barrel to barrel, barrel to tank.
•  Barrel filling, topping, stirring, and racking.
•  Record data and complete work orders accurately.
•  Forklift work including moving and stacking wine barrels.
•  Loading and unloading equipment from trucks & trailers.
•  Understand OSHA Safety.
•  Follow company policy and winemaking procedures.
•  Pull samples as needed.
•  Calculate tank dips when required.
•  Reading and carrying out winemaking requests and work orders with minimal guidance.
•  Learn and be capable of using topping tools, PC pumps, air pumps.
•  Learn and be capable of DO meter use and understanding of principles behind its use.
•  Operate Tom Beard barrel washer and ozone machine.
•  General cellar housekeeping and sanitation.

Qualifications:

•  Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•  Must have the ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English.
•  Good reading, writing and math skills.
•  Ability to work flexible hours six days/week during harvest.
•  Have reliable transportation and report to work on-time.
•  Ability to accurately complete work instructions individually or in a team.
•  Attention to detail and a commitment to a quality product.
•  Commitment to excellence and high standards.
•  Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
•  Great attitude, appetite for learning, and be ready to work hard and have fun at the same time.

Physical Requirements:

•  Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
•  Ability to bend, squat and lift 50 lbs.
•  Able to work long hours and overtime when required.
•  Performs work duties in various weather conditions outdoors or indoors.
•  Temperatures in the cellar are cool and noise level is usually moderate.
•  Full body mobility: Ability to stand; walk; sit; use tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, kneel.
