Our client is an industry leader and one of the largest food and foodservice distribution companies in North America. It delivers national and proprietary branded food and food-related products to independent and national chain restaurants, quick-service eateries, pizzerias, theaters, schools, hotels, healthcare facilities and other institutions via its distribution centers across the United States.

Job Summary

We are looking for individual to join our client’s team as Buyer. You will coordinate and identify suppliers of product, negotiate price and quantity terms and establish long-term contracts to ensure adequate supply of high-quality products for Foodservice Distribution at competitive prices. Maintain established service levels for product in-stock. Assist with special order requests. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Job Description

• Maintains multi line product replenishment from vendors.
• Maintains adequate inventory levels to ensure superior service levels to customers and sales force through use of industry standard Best Practices procedures.
• Interacts and communicates both written and verbally with sales force, customers, and vendors in a timely and informative manner on market conditions, delivery schedules and product information.
• Works in an environment that requires teamwork and the ability to work independently to maintain required job parameters.
• Develops interpersonal relationships which encourage openness, candor, and trust, both internally and externally.
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Skills Required

• Must have experience with replenishment + forecasting
• 1 - 2 year purchasing experience or planning
• Very comfortable with basic computer and excel skills, ability to work in AS400 or similar systems preferred High attention to detail, customer service (phone and email etiquette), working both independently and with a large team
• Requires flexibility, day-to-day is ever changing, must be able to multitask, work within strict timelines/deadlines 
• Preferred: 2 - 4 Years purchasing or closely related area within foodservice industry.
• Perishables purchasing highly preferred

Education/Training/Certifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree: Business, supply chain or related area

Additional Requirements

• Schedule notes: M-F, full time, with potential to work a hybrid schedule after training (M and F are remote, T/W/TH are in office), 8am-5pm

  Pay Rate

• Starting at 21.00 per hour and more depending on experience
