Position Title: Welder

Shift Schedule:

• 2nd Shift: Monday to Friday, 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM

Compensation:

• $24 to $27 per hour, based on experience level

Position Overview:

The Welder role involves performing various types of welding tasks in flat, vertical, and overhead positions. Key responsibilities include interpreting technical drawings, setting up welding equipment, and ensuring all work meets quality standards while following safety protocols.

Core Responsibilities:

• Preparation and Layout : Measure, position, and secure parts using tools such as straightedges, combination squares, and calipers.
• Quality Control : Inspect workpieces for defects and confirm specifications with straightedges or templates.
• Tool Operation : Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, including shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
• Material Welding : Weld in various combinations using materials like aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys.
• Component Assembly : Clamp, tack-weld, grind, or bolt parts to achieve the required configuration for welding.
• Torch and Equipment Setup : Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux based on welding charts for different metals.
• Ignition and Control : Start power supplies, strike arcs, and adjust gas flow and pressure to maintain ideal flames.
• Process Monitoring : Oversee fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, or distortion of parts.
• Welding Techniques : Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment for gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and shielded metal arc welding processes.
• Documentation and Identification : Mark or tag materials with job numbers and identification marks for accurate tracking.

Additional Responsibilities:

• TIG Welding Mastery : Have a strong understanding of TIG welding fundamentals and setup.
• Production Consistency : Ensure consistent weld quality by monitoring and adjusting equipment settings, materials, and techniques.
• Team Collaboration : Assist other TIG welders as needed and contribute to a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of welding experience in a manufacturing setting, or equivalent education/training.
• At least 2 years of experience specifically in aluminum sheet metal welding.
• Comprehensive knowledge of TIG welding principles, with effective written and verbal communication skills.

Essential Skills and Requirements:

• Proficiency in reading technical drawings and measuring accurately with gauges and calipers.
• Ability to produce quality welds on various materials and maintain high production standards.
