Summary of Position
Carhartt Family Wines is a family owned and operated winery and grape-growing operation. We annually farm 23 acres of grapes across three different vineyards, produce ~ 7000 cases and an average of 25 different wines. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, focusing on winery management, vineyard operations, and general brand development duties. Responsibilities fluctuate throughout the year, depending on seasonal demands, such as harvest, winery maintenance, future projections, and brand hospitality.
Work Week Expectations
-Mid-November to Mid-August: Monday–Friday. Flexibility for (1-2) weekend events per quarter.
-Late August to Mid-November (Harvest): Availability across all days as needed.
Winemaking Duties (Mid-November to Mid-August) - 45%
-Proficiency in Innovint (Winery Management Software) and Foss and Sentia Systems (Wine analysis equipment).
-Maintain Innovint database, including inventory, bulk wine records, and cost algorithms.
-Manage cellar operations:
-Wine movements, racking, blending, barrel topping, and sanitation.
-Execute and document work orders.
-Organize and help lead the cellar crew for production tasks.
-Maintain and create schedules for cellar equipment maintenance (e.g., presses, pumps, forklifts, tanks).
-Oversee shipping and receiving logistics for case goods and supplies.
-Quality control of all winemaking supplies; maintain accurate inventory records.
-Plan and execute bottling schedules.
-Develop and update SOPs for safe and effective cellar work.
-Regular communication with the winemaking team to align on weekly, monthly, and annual goals.
Harvest Responsibilities (Late August to Mid-November) - 25%
-Lead daily fermentation monitoring, including tank temperatures and cap management.
-Manage work orders and prioritize tasks (e.g., pressing, grape receival).
-Perform and/or oversee pump-overs and punch-downs.
-Clean equipment as necessary.
-Evaluate wines in collaboration with the winemaking team.
-Assist in vineyard monitoring, picking decisions, and harvest crew work when necessary.
-Monitor winemaking trials and review lab analysis.
Year-Round Vineyard Operations - 15%
-Potential participation in vineyard activity recording:
-Spraying schedule and formal recording
-Assist with maintenance schedule of vineyard equipment.
-Participate in, review, and log estate farming plans and vineyard data (bud break, flowering, cluster counts) into Innovint etc. to ensure optimal grape quality and environmental
practices.
-Help source purchased grapes and manage vineyard relationships.
-Participate in, review, and update general viticultural plans, ensuring balance between quality and cost.
Additional Duties - 15%
-Participate in tasting room operations (as needed), wine education, and events
-Represent the winery at PR/marketing events or in hosting guests.
-Collaborate on production forecasting, strategy, and social media content.
-Work with the Marketing Team to successfully tell our story and capture the details which make us unique.
-Implement and promote the company safety program.

-The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner at all times. Frequent operation of winemaking and cellar equipment as well as computer and other
office equipment, the ability to sit at a workstation for periods of time; the ability to work in the vineyard and cellar; and the ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, lift, twist,
pull, push, carry, grasp, reach and stoop as needed, and to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds or more frequently during harvest season. Specific vision abilities required by
the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to smell and taste wine blends for quality.

including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, and business or
organizational needs. This wage may be modified in the future.
Required Skills and Qualifications
-Must be 21+ years old with a valid driver’s license.
-Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on feet for extended hours.
-Proficiency in forklift operation.
-Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel/Google Sheets.
-Adaptability with technology and a proactive learning attitude.
-Strong organizational skills for both digital and physical spaces.
-Self-starter who respects a collaborative, family-oriented work environment.
-Willingness to “jump in” as needed across departments.
Compensation and Benefits
-Salary: $70,000–$90,000 DOE
