Job Summary As a Heavy Equipment Road Mechanic, you will be responsible for providing on-site mechanical support for a wide range of light duty trucks and heavy equipment used in construction, mining, and other industries. As a Road Mechanic, you will travel to various job sites to diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment to minimize downtime and ensure the continued productivity of operations. You will work independently, using your expertise to perform emergency repairs and regular maintenance to keep machinery in optimal working condition.
Key responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, performing on-site repairs, and conducting preventative maintenance on equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy equipment mechanics, the ability to quickly diagnose issues, and a commitment to safety and quality. This position requires the ability to work in various environments and weather conditions while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
A commitment to safety and quality is essential in this role, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with other team members and management. Experience with various heavy equipment brands and models is preferred, along with a solid understanding of maintenance schedules, repair techniques, and troubleshooting methods.
What you do: - Travel to job sites to provide timely mechanical support for heavy equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and transmission issues on-site.
- Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Conduct inspections to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with field teams to schedule repairs and maintenance to avoid disruptions.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and work completed.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety protocols and industry regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with operators and supervisors.
- Assist with parts inventory management and ordering of supplies, as necessary.
Qualifications: - Minimum five years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in heavy machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Must have experience with Various Diagnostic software programs.
- Experience with Caterpillar, John Deere, Volvo, Komatsu, and aggregate processing equipment, Including crushers, screeners, and stackers.
- Ability to lift a minimum of fifty pounds.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate various types of heavy machinery.
- Class B - CDL required.
- Hazmat required.
