Responsibilities:
- Lead the parts department, overseeing both retail and wholesale customers to ensure smooth and efficient operations
- Accomplish departmental objectives through effective purchasing, inventory control, and tracking expenses
- Collaborate with the Service Manager to ensure timely availability of parts for all scheduled repairs
- Train, supervise, and mentor parts counter associates to meet company goals and adhere to stock order procedures
- Resolve customer complaints in a courteous and professional manner to ensure satisfaction
- Stay updated on manufacturer warranty policies, return procedures, and industry best practices
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations affecting parts department operations
- Enforce work schedules and company policies regarding absenteeism, reporting, and tardiness for department staff
- Set goals for the department and work toward achieving them in alignment with overall business objectives
- Hire, train, motivate, and monitor the performance of parts department staff
- Manage inventory to ensure accurate stocking, minimize shortages, and maintain appropriate levels
- Accurately price parts and accessories, ensuring the system reflects the most current pricing
- Implement and uphold safety procedures within the department to maintain a safe work environment
- Demonstrate company values in all interactions with customers, co-workers, and vendors, fostering positive relationships and teamwork
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the dealership’s goals and operations
Qualifications:
- Previous Experience: At least 1+ years of experience as a Parts Manager or in a similar role within the automotive industry, with a proven track record of success
- Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers, vendors, and team members
- Customer-Focused Attitude: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, offering personalized service to meet their unique needs
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of automotive parts, inventory management, and procurement processes
- Detail-Oriented: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage inventory, pricing strategies, and multiple priorities simultaneously
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Capacity to handle inventory challenges, procurement issues, and customer concerns with a solution-oriented approach
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with safety, environmental regulations, and dealership standards related to parts management
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using dealership software, parts management systems, and online tools to manage inventory and track orders
- Team Player: Collaborative mindset, with the ability to lead, train, and motivate a team to achieve departmental goals
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and maintain smooth department operations in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible and Adaptable: Willingness to adjust to changing demands and work hours as needed to support dealership needs
- Pre-Employment Requirements: Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, and background check
