Job Description

We are excited to welcome a talented and professional Virtual Sign Language Interpreter to our team! This remote, 1099 contract opportunity provides the flexibility of working from home while making a meaningful impact on students across North Carolina.

As a Virtual Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a key role in fostering effective communication between students and educators by interpreting classroom content, discussions, and lessons into American Sign Language (ASL). You'll work closely with teachers, students, and other school staff, ensuring that every student has the support they need to succeed in their educational journey. Plus, you will have access to ongoing support from a clinical and technical team, as well as a toolkit designed to assist you in lesson planning and student engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Interpret classroom content, lessons, and discussions remotely in ASL for students in educational settings, ensuring clear and accurate communication.
Collaborate with teachers, students, and staff to support effective communication and promote an inclusive learning environment.
Utilize virtual platforms to deliver interpreting services seamlessly, maintaining a high standard of accessibility.
Implement a comprehensive toolkit to enhance students' learning and ensure their accessibility needs are met.
Maintain accurate records of interpreting sessions, in compliance with state and school guidelines.

Qualifications:

Minimum 3.0 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score required.
Valid Sign Language Interpreter Certification.
Previous experience interpreting in an educational setting is preferred.
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
Comfort and experience with virtual platforms and tools to deliver interpreting services effectively.
Ability to work independently and manage a flexible work schedule.
