Job Description

The AoPS Academy in Pleasanton, CA is hiring part-time remote Math Teaching Assistants (TAs) with strong contest math skills to support our campus during the academic year. As a TA you may work with students outside of class and/or during their AoPS class time, grade assignments, host regular office hours, and run on-demand 1-1 tutoring sessions. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to work with motivated younger students and contribute to the AoPS Academy community. 

Job Duties:

• Host weekly office hours and on-demand tutoring sessions for students.
• Work with students individually or in small groups.
• Provide exceptional feedback on graded assignments.
• Collaborate with instructors and full-time staff on student and classroom needs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must be 16 years old or older
• Possess strong math skills with the ability to help students navigate advanced concepts
• Ability to work well independently with little supervision
• Experience with/interest in working with younger students strongly preferred
• Exceptional written and spoken communication
• Positive and encouraging attitude that helps students feel comfortable asking questions 
• Detail-oriented and organized
• Familiarity with the AoPS curriculum is not required, but a plus

Schedule: 

• AoPS Academy is an afterschool program with classes in the evenings and on weekends, so candidates must be available to work during weekday after-school hours and/or on weekends.

Benefits and Compensation: The Teaching Assistant pay rate at our Pleasanton location is $19/hour. Some benefits of the position are:
