Job Title: Interbranch Buyer

Company Introduction: G&C Food Distributors is a re-distributor of refrigerated, frozen and dry food. Our sole distribution center is in Syracuse, NY. We store and deliver more than 4,000 food items to meet the needs of our customers across 27 states and 28 states internationally. In recent years, G&C Foods has grown to be one of the most respected redistributors in the United States. We are rapidly expanding all areas of our organization. G&C Foods is currently looking for a professional and dynamic Interbranch Buyer.

Location: Syracuse, NY or Remote

Salary: $55,000-$65,000 Annually with an Associate Bonus Program

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Job Summary:

The Interbranch Buyer supports G&C Foods regional multisite supply network strategy by focusing on the transfer of inventory between facilities. Success in this position involves effective use of the NCR system, strategic supplier collaboration, and operational alignment with internal stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leadership:
  • Foster positive relationships with internal suppliers, aligning procurement activities with G&C Foods quality and service standards.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration within the organization to achieve procurement objectives on effective sourcing and inventory management strategies.
• Customer Acquisition and Retention:
  • Ensure internal customer satisfaction by supporting consistent, reliable delivery schedules that meet plant and distribution needs.
  • Proactively address supplier-related issues that may affect supply continuity.
  • Facilitate interbranch supply chain alignment, balancing inventory availability with production and distribution requirements.
• Sales and Purchasing Strategy and Execution:
  • Execute effective inventory and procurement strategies to maintain optimal stock levels and meet business demands.
  • Regularly review and release purchase orders for internal goods and services procurement, ensuring acknowledgment of orders to avoid supply disruptions.
  • Use the NCR system to support the full procurement lifecycle and adjust supply flows based on demand fluctuations.
  • Assists with development and implementation of business plans, performance goals and metrics for each assigned category.
• Product Knowledge:
  • Possess a understanding of our product portfolio, including food items, packaging, and pricing structures.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of NCR systems for inventory and purchasing functions to effectively coordinate material requirements planning.
  • Understand G&C Foods supply network and internal supplier capabilities to optimize procurement decisions in alignment with product specifications.
• Cross-functional Collaboration:
  • Collaborates interdepartmentally as needed as it relates to supply management.
  • Build and foster a sound working relationship interdepartmentally.
• Reporting and Analysis:
  • Track and analyze delivery schedules and inventory data to ensure alignment with purchasing goals.
  • Provide insights on inventory turnover, aging stock, and cost management for procurement categories.
  • Use NCR and reporting tools to monitor purchase orders, confirmations, and inventory status, adjusting strategies based on supply chain needed.

Experience and Education Required:

• 3-5 years of Retail or Food Service purchasing experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook preferred
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Business development and relationship building is essential.
