Our client, a nationwide retailer, is seeking a part-time
Human Resources Generalist to join their team! The
HR Generalist is responsible for overseeing multiple HR functions including policies and procedures, employee relations, benefit administration, recruitment, payroll support, and compliance with employment laws. Experience in retail with multiple locations is a huge plus!
The ideal person for this position has proven expertise in Human Resources. This includes benefits administration, talent acquisition, compensation, reporting, benefits and training. The
HR Generalist must be professional, proactive, an exceptional communicator and a self-starter. This position will require the ability to work independently, with limited supervision. Experience with multi-state environments is preferred, but not required.
This is a part-time position, at approximately 20 – 25 hours per week, and requires a predictable schedule. This position is fully remote, but the candidate must reside in one of the following states: Maine, Washington, Illinois, Wisconsin, California, Florida, Georgia, or Michigan. The
HR Generalist will support employees from the east coast to the west coast.
Key Responsibilities of the Human Resources Generalist: - Administers benefit plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
- Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
- Update and implement policies and procedures, including maintaining the employee handbook.
- Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
- Submits online investigation requests and assists with new-employee background checks.
- Reconciles benefits statements.
- Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action.
- Assists with processing of terminations.
- Assists with the preparation of the performance review process.
- Assists with recruitment and interview process. Tracks status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process.
- Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by the director of HR.
- Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
- Files documents into appropriate employee files.
- Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
- Prepares new-employee files.
- Processes mail.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What the successful Human Resources Generalist will have: - Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field.
- At least 3 years experience, in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- SHRM-CP credential preferred.
- Experience working in the retail industry is a plus.
- Experience working in a multi-state environment is a plus.
- Experience with HRIS, ATS and Payroll systems, Paylocity is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to work independently, and exercise sound judgment, discretion, and tact.
- Strong interpersonal skills and adept at employee relations including conflict resolution.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple and often simultaneous projects and deadlines with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with standard productivity software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams); knowledge of payroll software preferred.
Compensation Range: - $35.50 to $38.50 per hour, DOE
