Position: Head of Human Resources

Department: HR

Position Overview:

The Head of Human Resources is responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization, specifically in the areas of succession planning, talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, training and development, and compensation. The Head of Human Resources maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position is directly responsible for leading the Human Resources team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic business partner to regional management teams, develop and implement a local people strategy aligned with thyssenkrupp nucera’s overall business objectives.
  • Lead talent acquisition efforts, tailor recruitment processes to regional needs while maintaining global standards.
  • Ensure HR operations, such as onboarding, payroll, and benefits administration, are compliant with local North American labor laws and regulations.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution within the North American region.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) by implementing tailored programs to reflect the diverse workforce in North America.
  • Manage regional performance management processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and the use of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Lead the administration of bonus systems and conduct annual pay reviews to ensure competitiveness in the regional labor market.
  • Manage HR analytics and reporting to maintain consistency in HR metrics and inform decision-making.
  • Manage regional compensation and benefits programs, ensuring alignment with global guidelines and adapting them to North American market benchmarks and cost-of-living variations.
  • Lead regional learning and development initiatives, ensuring alignment with global programs while addressing the specific needs of the North American workforce.
  • Customize training and development programs to meet local cultural, language, and market demands.
  • Manage talent development initiatives for emerging leaders within the North American operations.
  • Drive regional employee engagement initiatives, leveraging global programs and customizing them for the North American workforce.
  • Support organizational development efforts, including change management initiatives that facilitate business growth and cultural integration.
  • Adapt global HR policies to ensure compliance with labor laws in North America, including wage and hour regulations, health and safety standards, and employment legislation.
  • Collaborate with global HR teams to ensure consistent communication, reporting, and execution of HR policies across the region.
  • Oversee the HR budget for the North American region, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources to meet local HR needs.
  • Align regional HR workforce planning with global HR goals, ensuring that HR services meet the demands of the business.
  • Manage global mobility efforts for the North American region, ensuring smooth transitions for employees and compliance with relocation policies.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Superior business acumen and management principles, especially those involved in strategic planning, human resource modeling, production methods, allocation of resources, and employment-related laws and regulations in a global context.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems.
  • Knowledge of Global Mobility process.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.


Qualifications/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field required; MBA or MA/MS in human resources or related field preferred.
  • Preferred 10 + years of HR experience, with at least five years of executive HR experience and at least five years of international HR experience.
  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in leading HR initiatives across North America, particularly in talent acquisition, employee engagement, and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. and Canadian employment laws, labor relations, and HR operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving industry.
  • Experience managing HR projects and programs across multiple locations in North America.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to navigate and observe all departments within the company.
