Fairfax County is seeking a Spatial Analyst I (SAI) to join our innovative team, delivering impactful geospatial solutions to support both county government operations and our residents. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the public good by providing essential geographic information and services.

As part of the Agency Geospatial Services Branch within the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Division, this position will:

Fulfill GIS project requests by designing maps, developing reports, and creating spatial layers to support comprehensive geospatial products.
Implement web-based GIS solutions using platforms such as ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise, along with other GIS software.
Perform basic spatial analysis and collaborate with senior GIS Analysts on various projects to provide tailored GIS solutions for county agencies.
Assist other GIS teams by testing and evaluating software applications to ensure optimal functionality.
Provide GIS technical support and training for county staff and respond to public inquiries regarding GIS products and services.
Support the county Emergency Operations Center (EOC) when activated, contributing to critical response efforts.
Maintain inventory of GIS consumables and support additional office functions as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, geography or related field; plus course work in ArcView GIS or similar GIS software.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work well with others in a team environment and work independently with little supervision. Excellent organizational skills. Experience with web based mapping applications such as ArcGIS Online. Excellent cartographic skills. In depth knowledge of ArcGIS Desktop10.x and ArcGIS Pro 3.x. Experience delivering GIS technical support. Skilled at working with the public in a customer service environment. Comfortable teaching GIS concepts and tools. Experience with municipal GIS and some familiarity with local government lines of business related to land development.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment. Duties are generally sedentary, performed in a normal office environment. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
