Role Overview:
As the Director of Finance, you will play a vital role in supporting leading venture-stage firms by providing comprehensive financial and analytical guidance. You will work independently, ensuring client success from an accounting, finance, and customer service perspective. In this senior finance position, you will manage client deliverables and priorities, collaborating strategically with the VP/CFO. This role presents a fantastic opportunity to gain insights into the complexities and interdependencies of early-stage, high-growth companies across various industries, including E-commerce, Technology, CPG, and Professional Services.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with clients' executive leadership teams to understand the key operational drivers of their businesses.
Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop methods for measuring and tracking them.
Lead all close calls, utilizing your accounting experience along with your forecasting and modeling expertise to help clients leverage past data for future decision-making.
Manage complex client relationships independently, responding professionally to challenges as they arise.
Take full ownership of client engagements with minimal input from the CFO.
Focus on industry analysis and metrics relevant to the sector.
Lead and oversee the fundraising (equity/debt) due diligence process.
Manage cap tables and gain a thorough understanding of various equity and debt instruments.
Assess and review 409A valuations.
Present board materials to client management and board members effectively.
Provide mentorship on Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) topics to junior finance team members.
Act as a trusted advisor for all FP&A and accounting-related matters.
Qualifications:
8+ years of experience in finance-focused roles.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
Solid understanding of business operations, with the ability to establish systems and processes that ensure effective firm-wide controls.
Exceptional financial modeling and presentation skills.
Comfortable working with data and navigating ambiguity, with the capacity to dive into details and adjust priorities as needed.
Strong communication skills, capable of translating complex concepts into clear, actionable recommendations for both the internal team and clients.
Highly organized, able to manage and prioritize multiple client workstreams, and respond to ad-hoc requests promptly and efficiently.
A desire to mentor and teach others within the organization to enhance the overall internal FP&A skill set.
In-depth knowledge of the SaaS or Technology industries.
Salary Range: $140,000 - $165,000
