We're seeking a talented individual to join our growing Middle-Market Commercial Underwriting team! If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy building relationships, and have a passion for understanding the intricacies of commercial insurance, this could be the perfect role for you.
What You'll Do:
As a Commercial Underwriting Specialist, you'll play a vital role in our success. You'll be responsible for evaluating and processing new commercial business applications, ensuring they align with our product and coverage guidelines. Your expertise will help us maintain profitability while continuing to grow our business. This involves:
Reviewing, approving, and processing applications, always keeping our profitability and growth objectives in mind.
Becoming an expert on all our commercial products, pricing, and coverages. You'll interpret guidelines and utilize all available resources to make informed decisions.
Building strong relationships with our agency partners through regular communication, including in-person visits. You'll be a key point of contact, helping them achieve their goals.
Sharing your knowledge and supporting your colleagues. You'll have opportunities to train and mentor new team members.
Leveraging our systems and your own strong communication skills to contribute to overall company objectives.
Where You'll Work:
This is a remote position, offering the flexibility to work from home! You'll be provided with a company vehicle, laptop, cell phone, and all the equipment you need to succeed. While you'll primarily work remotely, some travel within Northeastern Ohio will be required, so the ideal candidate will be located in the Greater Cleveland or Greater Akron metro areas. This travel will typically be same-day trips, allowing you to connect with our agency partners face-to-face.
What You'll Bring:
A Bachelor's Degree, formal insurance education, or equivalent professional experience.
5-8 years of proven success in Commercial Lines Underwriting, including experience building and developing new agency relationships.

The ability to travel regularly within your assigned territory, including some occasional overnight trips.
A valid driver's license and a commitment to safe driving practices.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to present information clearly and persuasively.
Strong organizational skills, the ability to manage your time effectively, and the ability to work independently.
