We are looking for a motivated individual to fill our Cellar Worker 1 position. Mark Ryan Winery is a family owned and operated winery located in beautiful Walla Walla Washington. We work with several different grape varieties farmed by incredible wine growers in fantastic vineyards located across Washington State. The Cellar Worker 1 position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on cellar experience, be part of a talented team, and work in a positive environment. The position is fluid and provides a broad range of training in various cellar tasks.

Job Description:

Under the supervision of the winemaking team perform all cellar tasks related to the annual production of red and white wine.

Essential Functions:

- Participate in all elements of wine production from grape receival to bottling.
- Assist in providing instruction and mentoring to harvest interns.
- Assist in maintaining the cellar in a clean and orderly way.
- Assist in maintaining and servicing all winery cellar equipment.
- Participate in winery release events and tastings throughout the year, this could require working a few weekend evenings.
- Maintain the quality and safety standards set forth by the winemaking team.
- Follow and observe all safety practices outlined by the winery.
- Work long hours during the harvest season (August through November)

Minimum Qualifications:

- Honest and trustworthy with a positive attitude.
- Can work independently as well as in collaboration with others.
- Bachelor’s degree in enology, viticulture or related field is preferred but not required.
- 1 year of experience working in a winery production environment. Including one full harvest.
- Possess a valid drivers license and clean driving record.
- Required to work in various climatic conditions.
- Required to stand for extended periods of time (up to 12 hours).
- Required to work long hours including overtime during harvest.
- Work efficiently and safely in the cellar environment.
- Be fluent in English, both verbal and written and able to follow instructions in English.
- Lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Be able to operate a forklift and maintain forklift certification.

Compensation
Salary: $33,000-$36,000

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and at times may require ear protection.
