Salary: $101,500 - $307,500 a year

The Department of Classics at Johns Hopkins University seeks to fill a new position at open rank of (tenure-track) assistant professor or (tenured) associate/ full professor in Ancient Greek. We are looking for a colleague with proven talent at/ commitment to teaching a wide variety of courses in Ancient Greek language and literature. Applications are encouraged from classicists working on any aspect of Ancient Greek language, literature, history, or culture, but it is expected that the successful applicant will complement the department's existing strengths. Additional r esearch interests in Environmental Humanities or STEM-Adjacent Humanities are desirable. The department is conducting a broad and inclusive search committed to hiring a candidate who, through their research, teaching, and service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

The department offers robust undergraduate and graduate (Ph.D.) programs, and students and faculty enjoy access to a substantial research library, as well as to an archaeological museum located in the department's midst. The department collaborates closely with other departments, centers, and programs at the university and regularly hosts lectures and conferences by distinguished scholars from around the globe. The expected academic base salary range for an Assistant Professor is: $101,500 - 138,000. 

The expected academic base salary range for an Associate Professor is: $118,000 - 241,500. 

The expected academic base salary range for a Professor is: $146,500 - 307,500.

Qualifications

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent at the time of application, as well as records of publication, teaching and service that are commensurate with the level of the proposed appointment.
